Heart of the Nation
How can we make regional Australia more liveable?
Students are presented with the problem of declining populations in regional centres around Australia as larger cities increasingly attract internal and international migrants.
Students will explore why this is problematic (as larger cities grow at unsustainable rates) and create a strategy to regenerate a regional hub in Australia to increase its liveability
Key tasks
-
Exploring liveability. Students will investigate what liveability means for different people and how we measure liveability, using different Australian cities as case studies
-
Assessing liveability. Students choose a town in regional Australia to focus on and enhance its liveability. They must assess the town’s liveability by considering available services and facilities, its environmental quality, and the strength of its community
